Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is an expert alchemist in cutting edge Manhattan attempting to safeguard the city from his most despised foe, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Balthazar can’t do only it, so he enlists Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), an apparently normal person who exhibits concealed potential, as his hesitant protégé. The alchemist gives his unwilling associate an intense training in the workmanship and investigation of enchantment, and together, these impossible accomplices work to stop the powers of obscurity.
